Tontfont

Tontfont is an environmental typeface drawn on the walls of Tondi military base in Tallinn. It was realized in collaboration with the Tallinn Kristiine Townhall. All letters are based on circular module system which is determined by special spraypaint compass tool “Möriseja” and notorious soviet industry modular “waffle” wall’s block proportions. Background

First sketches were made while I was still studying in Paris. On a vacation in Estonia I decided to turn my idea into reality. By August the permission from the Tallinn City Hall was in my hands. Soon after that together with assistance of Riku, Oliver and Uku we started to draft the sketches on the wall. In total, 27 blocks were ruled out and painted with spray paint.
